Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Yoomey runs the entire process inside your browser using WebAssembly and JavaScript. Your file is read into your device’s memory, processed there, and handed back to you as a download. We never receive it, so we cannot see, store or leak it — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool keeps working.

Which languages are supported?

English is bundled today. Recognition works best on clear scans with a resolution of 200 DPI or more.

Why is OCR slower than other tools?

Accepted Answer

Text recognition is computationally heavy and runs on your own processor rather than a server farm. Expect a few seconds per page; it runs in a background thread so the page stays responsive.

Question 4

Will my PDF look different?

Accepted Answer

No. We keep an image of each original page and place an invisible text layer on top, so it looks identical but you can now search, select and copy the text.
